Julia Cullen joined Bard Graduate Center in 2022. Before joining the BGC team, she lived in Paris, France, for over two years where she earned a MA in history and literature from Columbia University and a MA in audiovisual history from Université de Paris I. Her research focused on print advertising for tobacco products in France during the 1960s and 1970s and was influenced by her own experiences working as a wardrobe stylist for three years in New York City. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, she also holds a BA in history and political science from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She now lives in Manhattan.
