The Waterweavers exhibition includes the work of several designers who are dedicated to the creation and promotion of sustainably designed furniture, textiles, and functional objects, many of them made by indigenous craftspeople from Latin America. In this program, design writer Paul Makovsky will moderate a conversation with Lucy Salamanca and Andreas Vaa Bermann who will discuss their philosophies and approaches to ethical design, reducing consumption of non-renewable resources, and creating healthy, sustainable environments.
Paul Makovsky is the editorial director of Metropolis magazine.
He co-curated the exhibition Knoll Textiles, 1945–2010 at the BGC
Gallery.
Lucy Salamanca is the founder of Salamanca Design &
Co, in Bologna, Italy. In 2013 she joined creative design team for the design
fair HOMI Milano.
Andreas Vaa Bermann is the deputy chairman of the board
for the foundation Design without Borders. He is the former director of Norsk
Form: The Foundation for Design and Architecture in Norway (now called the
Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture).
