7pm to 8:30 pm concert and reception
William Kent was a voracious opera lover and, in fact, both he and Handel lived at Lord Burlington’s London residence. This concert will feature the music of Kent’s milieu, including Handel’s rarely-performed cantata “Cuopre tal volta il cielo” as well as beloved works by Thomas Arne, John Gay, and Johann Christoph Pepusch.
Christopher Dylan Herbert, baritone, performs throughout the
United States and Europe, principally with New York Polyphony.
Katie Rietman, cellist, has performed on numerous recordings
with notable baroque and classical period instrument ensembles.
Bradley Brookshire, harpsichordist, is a professor of music
at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College/SUNY as well as an assistant
conductor at The Metropolitan Opera.
