The purpose of the Iris Foundation is to advance education
in the decorative arts, design history, and material culture and to promote the
understanding and appreciation of all cultures. The Foundation is named for
Iris Weber, the mother of Susan Weber. The Iris Foundation Awards were created
in 1997 to recognize scholars, patrons, and professionals who have made
outstanding contributions to the study and appreciation of the decorative arts
as expressions of taste, ideology, and cultural aspirations.
