Jessica Murphy will give a Brown Bag Lunch presentation on Thursday, November 21, at 12:15 pm. Her talk is entitled, “ASK Brooklyn Museum.”
In 2015 the Brooklyn Museum launched ASK Brooklyn Museum, a mobile app that allows visitors to have a conversation about the art they see with a behind-the-scenes team of art historians and educators. ASK was developed at the Brooklyn Museum as part of an initiative funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies called Bloomberg Connects, which aims to use technology to engage visitors and enhance their museum experience. ASK Brooklyn Museum won two MUSE awards from the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in 2016 and continues to engage visitors throughout the Brooklyn Museum today. In this presentation Jessica Murphy, Manager of Visitor Engagement at the Brooklyn Museum, will speak about ASK’s origins and evolution, including its use in recent special exhibitions.
Jessica Murphy holds a PhD in Art History and has worked in the museum field for more than a decade, at institutions including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2015 she joined the staff of the Brooklyn Museum, where she is currently Manager of Visitor Engagement, supervising the Museum’s Contractual Gallery Guide program and its interactive ASK Brooklyn Museum app.
