On August 21, Bard Graduate Center welcomed a new cohort of thirty students to its master’s and PhD programs. This year’s orientation is book-ended by tours at New-York Historical Society and the Brooklyn Museum, led respectively by BGC alumni Rebecca Klassen (MA ’11), curator of material culture, and Darienne Turner (MA ’17), curator of Indigenous art. In between, the new students are settling into the BGC community, learning about its diverse range of academic resources, taking language exams, showcasing work created in the Digital Humanities/ Digital Exhibitions “bootcamp,” and enjoying visits to other cultural institutions. Classes begin next Monday, September 9. We are enjoying getting to know this amazing new crop of students.
